Everytime You Break My Heart
Back from the Injured List...
(August 2019) Good news to report on the injury front. Lorenzo is mending well from his dangerous adventures in gardening and has even resumed playing. We have asked him to put safety at least 3rd on his priority list for all activities going forward. We've also asked him to minimize activities that involve sharp objects. While Lorenzo's speedy recovery is our first and foremost concern, we're also ecstatic to announce a full slate of fall gigs. Check out our "Shows" page for dates and venues. In the meantime, check us out on Spotify. Just look up the Pearl Motel. Our entire Beautiful Disaster album is there for your dining, dancing and streaming pleasure. Hopefully, that'll tide you over until we resume full activities in the fall. Have a great summer y'all!
(August 2019) Lorenzo isn't the only one in the Pearl Motel news. Keyboard Ace Eric is getting married! That's right. He's no longer the eligible one you've come to know from our gigs and the cover of Tiger Beat. He and April will be tying the knot in September and we can't wait. We'll be playing a hot set at the big party and sending the kids off on their honeymoon on a high note... On another note, with vacations and injuries and such, it's sometimes tricky to find gig dates where everyone is available. We've come up with an interesting way of dealing with that for a show in St. Catherine's at the end of August. Some of us will be joining forces with some members of Toronto rocking' jamsters, Groovy Julia, to form Groove Motel. It'll be an interesting experiment, but we bet it'll come off beautifully.
Weddings, Parties, Anything...
(May 2018) Some of you may be working under the misguided impression that the Pearl Motel only likes to hang out and play in bars. Well, perish the thought. Of course we love bars (they're awesome), but we just love to play our patented brand of swingin' jazzabilly anywhere and everywhere. In fact, we love to play private events and can entertain your people in a variety of configurations. The Pearl Motel can strip down to leaner combinations of musicians and can still deliver a couple of fun and eclectic sets. And that's the point of this blurb. We can go big (full band) or small to meet the needs of your venue or event. So why not consider the Pearl Motel... We're more fun than a bunch of sailors on shore leave (except, unlike them, we clean up our mess when we leave).
Our Commitment to Original Music Requires a Lot of Friends
(January 2018) As anyone who has seen or heard us knows, the Pearl Motel plays an eclectic mix of material. From Irving Berlin to Frank Sinatra to the Everly Brothers to Lucinda Williams to Johnny Cash, we offer something familiar for almost every taste. But our main stock in trade is our commitment to writing and performing original songs. It is an honour to be able to share these songs with you and we are grateful to everyone who supports local musicians making original music. And no one supports live and local music more than our local entrepreneurs who lend players like us their stages. Bar and restaurant owners are the lifeblood of any local music scene. No one is getting rich, but we all share in the joy of making and presenting fantastic music. None of it would work without you. So thanks for coming out and supporting both artist and venue with your open ears and, frankly, your wallets. Music lovers like you keep all of us in business (If you need a quick hit of the Pearl Motel, just click the links directly below)
Listen... Right here... Right now!
(June 2017) It's between gigs and you haven't yet got your copy of our mini album, The Storm Sessions. How do you scratch that itch? Easy. Just stream a few songs from the record right here at thepearlmotel.com.
Whenever you need a fix of our swingin’ and genre-defying tuneage, just click on these links or check out our “Songs” tab, where you’ll find set list staples Beautiful Disaster, I Wanna Know and Behind Your Eyes. Stream away. The boss won’t mind. Heck, she’ll probably dig ‘em too. She might even ask how come you have such amazing taste in music and then, perhaps, she’ll offer you a big time promotion because, well, someone with such classy and refined preferences in music is probably the next corporate high-flyer…
Who knows? Anything can happen when you check in at the Pearl Motel… Give us a listen. And pick up at copy of the Storm Sessions at one of our gigs... only $10. Can't beat that!
New Relish Bar and Grill
(511 Danforth Ave.)
Saturday December 7th
We've got a busy first weekend of December. On Friday the 6th, we'll be livening up a private party. It'll also be a warm-up for our appearance at the brand new Relish Bar and Grill on Saturday the 7th. Relish's new location is incredible. Now at Danforth and Logan, in the heart of the action, the New Relish is a gleaming live music venue set within a fantastic restaurant. We'll be cranking up our Maximum Swing-a-billy from about 9pm until they tell us to stop. So, c'mon along. It'll be a great chance to kick off the festive season. The Pearl Motel - where Santa's elves love to whoop it up on their days off. HO! HO! HO! See y'all there.
